Week 5 Tight End Streamers For Fantasy Football: Mike Gesicki Is A Solid Grab

Week 5 Tight End Streamers For Fantasy Football: Mike Gesicki Is A Solid Grab

Jorge Martin compiled the three tight end streamer options for fantasy football in Week 5.

Published Updated

We thought last week was a tough one for injuries. Oy! The hits just keep on coming. But we’re a resilient lot, us fantasy football managers. We signed up for 17 weeks of highs, lows, injuries and the occasional insult from leaguemates who beat us by fractional points. And if we’re lucky, we get to celebrate a title in the new year. In the meantime, it’s Week 5, lotta miles to go before that.

Let’s get into some streamers. As always with tight ends, we’ll mine the fantasy football rankings for players outside the top 12. Make sure to check out our fantasy football projections to get further confirmation why these players are targets. Lastly, all stats versus each position group listed below are from our wonderful DvP tool and any utilization data came from our UR Score.

Tight End Streamers for Week 5 in Fantasy Football

Mike Gesicki | Bengals at Dolphins

Gesicki ending up in one of these articles usually means bad things for other Cincinnati pass catchers. Ja’Marr Chase (concussion) and Tee Higgins (adductor) both came down with injuries in Week 4 and either or both could miss next week. That should mean more targets for Gesicki.

The TE already has scored in three of four games, and the Dolphins just allowed TJ Hockenson to catch all 13 of his targets for 119 yards in Week 4. If it’s just for one week, Gesicki can easily get cut when Chase and Higgins are back.

Tyler Higbee | Rams vs. Bills

How about a cheap piece of the Rams-Bills game with an over/under of 54.5? Say hello to Higbee. With Terrance Ferguson and Colby Parkinson both missing last week—and likely to be out again in Week 5—Higbee ran 76% of the routes against the Eagles. He caught 12% of the targets, with a respectable aDOT of 11.0.

The Bills are middle of the pack with 47.5 receiving yards allowed to TEs. Higbee also has enough history with Matthew Stafford built up, he knows where to get open. Hunter Henry just went for 5-62-0 last week against Buffalo.

Chig Okonkwo | Commanders vs. Giants

That summer chatter about Chig being the No. 2 target in this offense sure feels like a long time ago. Though even with Stefon Diggs in the fold, Terry McLaurin is no guarantee to be on the field after missing the London game.

The Giants are No. 17 in the league with 49.5 receiving yards allowed to TEs. Another plus for Chig is that Jayden Daniels could be back this week. He’s a speculative streamer, especially if there’s no McLaurin.
