Week 5 Wide Receiver Streamers For Fantasy Football: Ryan Flournoy Looks To Surprise
Jorge Martin delivered the wide receiver streamer options for fantasy football in Week 5.
We thought last week was a tough one for injuries. Oy! The hits just keep on coming. But we’re a resilient lot, us fantasy football managers. We signed up for 17 weeks of highs, lows, injuries and the occasional insult from leaguemates who beat us by fractional points. And if we’re lucky, we get to celebrate a title in the new year. In the meantime, it’s Week 5, lotta miles to go before that.
Let’s get into some streamers. As always with wide receivers, we’ll mine the fantasy football rankings for players outside the top 24. Make sure to check out our fantasy football projections to get further confirmation why these players are targets. Lastly, all stats versus each position group listed below are from our wonderful DvP tool and any utilization data came from our UR Score.
Wide Receiver Streamers for Week 5 in Fantasy Football
Ryan Flournoy | Cowboys vs. Buccaneers
First off, before we call for anyone on the Cowboys to be a sleeper to target, just know that we’re doing this fully expecting George Pickens to get his 8-10 targets on Thursday night. And CeeDee Lamb is going to keep doing CeeDee Lamb things, which means getting double-digit targets. He’s tied for the most targets among WR with 46. But if Dak Prescott is going to drop back and pass close to 40 times in a game, half of those will go to targets other than their top 2. Enter Flournoy.
The WR3 on Dallas is going to get targeted, and Flournoy has seen at least 5 in three games this season. He goes up against a Buccaneers defense going on the road for the first time since Week 1. Denzel Boston and Jordan Addison each went for 90+ receiving yards against the Bucs.
Dohnte Meyers | Bengals at Dolphins
The 26-year-old UDFA might be falling into a one-week vortex where he probably never thought he’d be when he debuted with the Bengals this year. Ja'Marr Chase sustained a concussion, and will be evaluated this week. Tee Higgins suffered an adductor injury, and while it was not considered serious, soft-tissue injuries and the lanky WR from Clemson have not done well in the past.
Meyers could be in as large a role as he could possibly imagine against the Dolphins, who are rebuilding on defense. If Higgins and Chase are both out, it would take plenty of guts to start Meyers, but getting someone catching passes from Joe Burrow could be worth the dart throw.
Roman Wilson | Steelers vs. Colts
Wilson may be down the target pecking order from DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr., but he does have exactly 6 targets in each of the games this season. And he’s scored in each of the past two games, which coincides with Aaron Rodgers passing more often. Is Wilson in the hallowed Rodgers trust tree?
The Colts are seventh in the league with 179.3 receiving yards allowed to WRs. With ace cornerback Sauce Gardner likely more involved with Metcalf and Pittman, Wilson could break free in the secondary and keep his scoring streak alive.
