In today's Fantasy Life Newsletter, presented by Xfinity:
In a move that sent shockwaves through the fantasy community, the Chiefs signed RB Emari Demarcado yesterday.
Just kidding. I mean, KC really did sign Demercado, but the more notable move was the Chiefs trading for QB Justin Fields yesterday.
Here’s what you need to know…
🤑 What did KC give up? They sent a 2027 sixth-round pick to the Jets and will also pay $3 million of Fields’ $10 million 2026 guaranteed salary.
🤔 Why did they do this? I think there are two obvious reasons …
👎️ Can I draft Fields in fantasy? I wouldn’t do it right now, especially in best ball where you are stuck with him for the entire year.
If we hit August, though, and the Mahomes timeline still looks murky, Fields will immediately enter the QB streamer conversation (and late-round draft pick list).
Regardless of the environment, he’s basically an automatic Top-12 play any week he starts due to his rushing value alone.
🤣 Can I draft Demercado? No.

If you have Puka Nacua in dynasty, what’s not to love? He’s already established as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, having just dominated to the tune of a league-high 129 catches, 1,715 receiving yards and 10 TDs. He’s the focal point of NFL MVP Matthew Stafford’s high-powered attack, and he’s barely turning 25. His star is still rising. We’re looking at potentially at least a five-year run of consistent greatness.
That’s exactly what the Xfinity 5-Year Price Guarantee means for your wallet: 5 years. The same price. No contracts or commitments. Is Christian Watson the Packers’ WR1? Sam Wallace highlighted players who came out ahead, and some who didn’t, for dynasty leagues.

Yes, Mark Andrews is going to be a TE option for those who pass on the elites early. Adam Pfeifer locked in on four targets in upcoming drafts.

Could Jeremiyah Love go as high as No. 4? Matt LaMarca explores different betting options for where players could get drafted.

The discussion will be spirited in the coming months. What do you do with the 1.01 pick in fantasy drafts? There are two players who are rising to the top of that discussion: Bijan Robinson vs. Jahmyr Gibbs. Choose your fighter! Seriously, who ya got? As Ian Hartitz might say when asked to pick one or the other … YES!
Adam Pfeifer dove over the pile on this question that hardly has a wrong answer. One of the arguments in favor of Robinson points toward the number of valuable touches that Tyler Allgeier took last year. Now with Allgeier having flown the coup to the Cardinals, it stands to reason that Bijan could get an even more valuable workload:
According to the Utilization Report, Robinson accounted for just 48% of Atlanta’s rush attempts from inside the 5-yard line. That put him outside the top-25 running backs and tied with Allgeier, who tied Robinson with five goal-line carries. Robinson also compiled only 32 red-zone carries, which trailed players like Chris Rodriguez, Kyle Monangai and Kareem Hunt. Again, Allgeier was right behind him with 31 red-zone rushes. Allgeier is a good player and was effective from in close, converting four of seven carries inside the 5-yard line into touchdowns. But his presence was often a headache for Robinson’s fantasy potential.
On the other hand there is Gibbs getting more work with David Montgomery going to Houston. Adam makes compelling arguments on both sides. ⬇️

Are you still buzzing after the out-of-this world NFL Scouting Combine performance by Oregon’s Kenyon Sadiq? To say that he left behind combine stars at the position like Kyle Pitts and Vernon Davis is significant … and true! Now some may point to Pitts’ struggles after surpassing 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie, though he did have a solid TE4 season in 2025 before being franchise tagged recently. And other rookie TE breakout seasons since from Sam LaPorta, Brock Bowers to Colston Loveland give rise to hope that if there is going to be a big rookie season from a TE, it’ll come from Sadiq.
Dwain McFarland has moved to the TEs with the Rookie Super Model, and while there is so much to like about Sadiq, there are just enough question marks that may make fantasy managers think twice before selecting him in rookie drafts. ⤵️

🥳 A veteran CB hangs it up for good. 13 NFL seasons is a good run.

We’ve talked so much about winners and losers among players changing teams during NFL Free Agency. How about the veterans who didn’t move? Ian Hartitz and Dwain McFarland break down players like Bhayshul Tuten who stayed put and are now moving up rankings because projected workloads are looking up.
